Bend Vision Project:
Bringing All Voices to the Table
As greater Bend transitions from a big town to a small city, we face daunting new challenges and exciting new opportunities. Now is the time to rethink and reposition Bend to ensure we are a resilient, inclusive and innovative community for the next generation and beyond. We can’t leave Bend’s future to chance.
The Bend Vision Project is our community’s first large-scale visioning project since 2005-06. Through the good work of scores of local organizations much of our original vision was achieved, including such initiatives as the Oregon State University-Cascades campus, Cascades East Public Transit, Riley Ranch Nature Reserve, and more. It also guided the plans of many other local organizations.
The 2022-23 Bend Vision Project is a similar collaborative process, updated for our times. Working with NXT Consulting Group and Oregon’s Kitchen Table, we are providing residents with an opportunity to come together, to be heard, to frame needs, and to reimagine our city and community for the future. This input will provide a deep assessment of the community’s challenges, strengths and weaknesses, as well as potential solutions.
This is the Bend way. We have conversations, we listen to each other, we work together to accomplish our goals and tackle our challenges, we share resources, and we make our community better together
—and for everyone.
This preliminary ‘process map’ depicts an outline of Envision Bend’s proposed public engagement project. (Note: Process dates and other details may change.)
What’s Up Now: We’re lining up Project Partners, interviewing community leaders and connectors, developing a communication plan, doing research on trends, and more.
What’s Next: Listening Sessions across the community. Stay tuned for announcements!
